One of the most common ailments we see at our Miami vein clinic is spider veins. Not only are these blue little lines unsightly, but they could also signal a bigger vascular problem affecting a patient’s overall health.
However, treating spider veins is often easier than most people realize. Here are a few of our recommended treatment options for spider veins.
Support Stockings
While it isn’t the most fashionable option, one of the easiest ways to treat spider veins at home is with properly fitting support stockings.
These stockings help support blood flow and can reduce the pain associated with spider veins after only wearing them for a few hours a few times per week.
They come in styles that reach below the knee, above the knee, and in a pantyhose form and are pretty readily available at most pharmacies.
Increased Exercise and Movement
Another way to treat spider veins at home is with increased exercise and movement. Low impact activities such as walking, swimming, and jogging help increase blood flow to the legs.
By incorporating light exercise into your daily routine, you can reduce the look of unsightly spider veins and improve your overall health at the same time.
Scelerotherapy
At Abella Health, the most common procedure we use to treat spider veins is scelerotherapy. This includes injecting a solution directly into the vein which causes it to disappear gradually over the course of three to six weeks.
In most cases, this outpatient procedure is sufficient enough to keep the lines from reappearing. It’s minimally invasive and the overall treatment has been around since the 1930s.
Abella Health is committed to helping our patients overcome the challenges associated with spider veins, varicose veins, and more. Contact us today to schedule an appointment at our Miami vein clinic.
