Let it rip: 7 tips for taking massive bong hits

Any bong smoker will know this one thing: there is a difference between small and behemoth bong hits. They will also know that you don’t just take massive bong hits and that there is a skill to doing it.

So, if you’ve just come back from the bong shop and are looking to take massive hits, follow these cheeky tips to really letting your bewg rip:

  1. Try deep breathing

If you want to work your way up to smoking low and slow, taking in a huge hit of a well-packed cone, then perhaps trying deep breathing is perfect for you. Before you pick up your bong, work on deep breathing and exercising your diaphragm – this will open the lungs and increase your breathing capacity, allowing you to take mega hits from the bong.

  1. Inhale at the end of the bong

Whilst it may seem ideal to hold your bong in immediately after letting it rip, you  may be interested to know that by taking a breath of fresh air you will be alleviating irritation to the throat whilst gaining access to clean air.

People’s ability to pull a big cone is often impeded by their need to cough when smoking a bong and this is because their throat has simply been irritated by the thick smoke.

Instead, try taking a quick inhale of fresh air immediately after smoking your bowl – you may just find that you can hold in that bigger cone without the urgent need to cough it straight back up!

  1. Exhale properly

You should try exhaling twice and both with a degree of force. People often cough when they attempt to slowly exhale their bong but this can cause irritation to the throat. To ensure you are taking on the full bong and not coughing when trying to exhale, try exhaling half the bong and then the other half afterwards.

Doing this will slowly guide the smoke out from your body and will produce a nice, smooth exhalation.

  1. Grind that herb down

Everyone knows that poorly chopped or ground bed struggles to pull through the cone piece. Instead, why not invest in a good quality grinder to allow you to finely grind your herb into something that is easily pullable?

Finely ground herbs are renowned for burning slowly and evenly, allowing you to pull your cone with absolute ease in contrast to the big nug bud way that is just lazy and creates blockages.

  1. Try cooling down your smoke

Whilst certain bongs come pre-made to cool down your smoke, you can also potentially cool down the smoke by using a water pipe that allows for an ice hit, making it nice and smooth whilst allowing you to easily pull the cone.

  1. Regulate water levels

Naturally, your bong’s downpipe should be submerged in water. This is essentially what creates the smoke and separates your bong from any standard pipe. If you have a perc bong with multiple percolators, these should all be submerged in the water to ensure you get the full smoking experience.

  1. Remove your bowl slowly

If you’re smoking American-style with a bowl then it is a good idea to remove the bowl slowly. Why? Because slowly removing the bowl will allow the smoke to be gradually introduced through the bong and into your mouth and lungs. People often think they should quickly remove the bowl in the heat of smoking an intense cone, but this will only make the process more difficult.

Instead, remember to slowly remove that bowl and allow that smoke to be slowly introduced into your vape system – you’ll pull a bigger cone as a result.
