My family has been taking summer trips to Cape Cod for as long as I can remember. It’s always been just the 4 of us: My dad, mom, sister and me. My mom and my sister were beach bums. They could spend hours on the beach. My dad and I, not so much.
We’d typically pass time between meals at the arcade or playing miniature golf. Unfortunately, these things get old when you spend enough time doing them. So we decided that we should try something completely new. We thought maybe we’d go out on a boat and try our hands at fishing.
We signed up to go out with an experienced fisherman for the better part of the morning. While neither one of us was any good at it, we enjoyed our time. It definitely was nice to break up the monotony of our vacation.
Once we were back home and had returned to our regularly scheduled lives, my dad took it upon himself to learn more about fishing. He was regularly scrolling through YouTube and teaching himself about a lot of interesting things.
One of the main things that he became curious about was fly fishing. As he continued to search out information on this sport, it eventually led him to Trouts Fly Fishing. He was able to find a vast amount of information from this company alone, just from reading their blog.
We discussed the potential of giving it a shot, and signed up with a local place to rent equipment and take some lessons. We both really enjoyed it. We scheduled two more sessions over the course of the next 2 months. After that, we were ready to venture out on our own. We were totally thrilled that we found something that we both genuinely enjoyed.
The time for our traditional Cape Cod vacation was closing in. It was only about 2 months away. My dad and I decided that it was time for us to purchase our own fly fishing gear. In addition to that, we would also need a convenient way to transport that gear.
Since my dad got a lot of valuable information from Trouts Fly Fishing, it only seemed logical to purchase things from them, since they seemed to really know what they were doing. We chose to get the Riversmith River Quiver Rod Carrier that holds 2 rods. It was an awesome decision, because it’s been such a safe and smooth way to carry our gear.
As grown men, my dad and I no longer dread our Cape Cod vacations. Although we do hit the arcade and the mini gold from time to time, most of our vacation revolves around fishing. We still leave space to spend quality time as a whole family, and everyone is happy with our vacation.
